The desktop app

Apex Download Manager runs entirely on your computer. It has no accounts, no analytics, and no telemetry. It makes network requests only to download the files you ask it to download and to check GitHub Releases for application updates. Nothing about you or your downloads is sent to the developer or to any third party.

The browser extension

The extension does not collect, store, or transmit any data to the developer or any third party. It has no analytics and makes no network requests except to the Apex Download Manager application running on your own computer (127.0.0.1). When you download a file, the extension forwards that file's URL to the local Apex app, along with the cookies and referring page for that URL so that downloads behind logins work. The app uses them solely to perform the download you requested. Nothing leaves your machine.

Using "Grab video from this page" works the same way: the page address is sent to the local app together with the cookies for that one page, so that if a site refuses the video to a signed-out request, the app can offer to retry as the signed-in you. The app holds those cookies in memory only, for that single retry. They are never written to its database and are gone when the app closes. Nothing is retried unless you ask for it, and nothing leaves your machine.

The website

This website keeps a single anonymous number: the total count of downloads served through its download link. No IP address, location, browser details, or any other request data is read or stored.
